Find Your Next Great Employee with Lucy & Kel’s Jobs of the Week
Starting Monday 23 March, Lucy and Kel are launching Jobs of the Week: a brand new way to connect Melbourne businesses with the talented people they’re looking for.

Every weekday from 6–10am, Lucy and Kel bring you real-life talk, laugh-out-loud moments, meaningful stories, and music that lifts your soul. It’s the kind of show that feels like catching up with friends… that’s if your friends overshare, cry at songs, and occasionally snort-laugh on live radio. (That’s Lucy.)
Whether they’re diving into the deep stuff, sharing something hilarious from their own lives, or celebrating the small wins with their listeners, Lucy & Kel create a space where everyone’s welcome, everyone matters, and where heart, humour, and a little hope all have a seat at the table.
They’ve won a bunch of radio awards but the only thing that matters to Lucy and Kel is making the kind of radio that feels like home, sounds like laughter, and reminds you you’re never alone.

For the past 17 years, I’ve had the joy of waking up Melbourne on 89.9 TheLight each and every morning. It still blows my mind that it’s been that long, and it’s an honour that I will never take for granted. The best part is I get to do this alongside my husband and co-host Kel (yes, we’re married, that’s another story), and together we’re raising a big, blended family of seven... plus two very spoiled Pomeranians.
Life hasn’t always been smooth. I’ve walked through heartbreak, disappointment, and the kind of deep grief that rewires who you are. But through it all, God has shown up again and again, and that’s why I do this. Because I believe in the power of stories, of human connection and a God who never lets go.
And I can’t wait to keep sharing this wild, wonderful journey with you every single morning. I want you to listen in the mornings and walk away feeling seen, loved, uplifted and encouraged. (And if I can get a snort laugh out of you… even better.)
I’ve worn a lot of hats over the years - from Music Director to Drive host to Afternoons - but what’s always mattered most to me is creating radio that makes people feel seen, heard, and valued. That’s the heartbeat of what we do every morning on Lucy and Kel: real stories, laughter, and showing up for each other in the chaos of life.
Off-air, I’m a dad to our blended family, a lover of good coffee, an audio editing nerd, and I like to unwind with a little XBOX time (when Lucy doesn't have me doing renos around the house, that is. Which is always. Will it ever end…).
Radio has run through my blood for over 30 years, and I’ve seen firsthand how God can use even the simplest moment—a song, a story, a shared laugh—to speak to someone right when they need it. That’s what keeps me showing up. At the end of the day, I just want people to feel like they belong.

This week on Lucy & Kel, an emotional on-air conversation explored the words parents would most want their children to carry for life. Inspired by the late Eric Dane’s final recorded message to his daughters, the team and listeners shared heartfelt reflections on love, purpose, courage and living fully in the present. It was a powerful reminder that above all, our children need to know they are loved, they are enough, and they are brave.

Lucy shared honestly on air about feeling overwhelmed by the weight of everyday life, describing how illness and busy routines can leave her constantly feeling ten minutes behind. In response, she experimented with using AI to build a simple two-week rotating schedule to bring structure back into her days — not as a rigid rule, but as a practical framework for staying on track. The idea reflects a deeper truth: routine can ease decision fatigue and help create space to move forward, even when life feels unpredictable.

This week on Lucy & Kel on 89.9 TheLight, listeners shared the quotes and mantras that guide them through daily life — from “Done is better than perfect” to “Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.”
From reminders about gratitude and resilience to Rocky Balboa’s call to “keep moving forward,” the conversation highlighted how simple words can carry powerful truth.

Ever gotten so lost in a shopping centre you needed a police escort? You’re not alone. From Chadstone to the Mall of America, Lucy & Kel’s listeners prove that getting lost is basically a universal experience — and the stories are too good not to share.

Our 40s can be physically, emotionally and spiritually exhausting — balancing kids, ageing parents, work and life.
This week, Lucy & Kel asked listeners: How are you thriving… or just surviving?
From learning to say no, to leaning on faith and self-care, one thing was clear: you don’t have to go through your 40s alone.
Real conversations, real people, real hope.
