There’s something incredibly juicy, deeply alluring about a secret. Waiting to be trusted with one can feel like standing on the edge of something powerful. To be invited into the inner circle – well, that changes everything.

During World War II, only a handful of people at Bletchley Park in the United Kingdom were entrusted with the most guarded secret of the war – the breaking of Germany’s Enigma code machine. They lived in secrecy, bound together in an inner circle that carried knowledge that shifted the course of history. 

Secrets, good secrets, are like that. They carry immense power to change, but not everyone has access to them which, when you think about it, is the very definition of a secret.

Psalm 25:14 The friendship of the LORD is for those who fear him, and he makes his covenant known to them. (NRSV)

That Hebrew word for friend means intimacy, close counsel – being welcomed into God’s inner circle. To those who revere Him, He opens His heart, He shares His secrets, He reveals His unbreakable promises.

And in Christ, that truth is fulfilled beyond imagination. Jesus said to His disciples (John 15:15), “I have called you friends, because I have told you everything my Father told me.”

Through our faith Him, you and I are no longer outsiders. We’re insiders – welcomed into the very counsel of God. Think about that. It blows the mind.

So don’t settle for a surface faith. Step closer today. Walk in reverence and obedience and discover the joy of being God’s friend – His covenant partner – welcomed into His innermost circle.
