This week on Experience Church, Linda Bailey from One Church preaches a sermon, Father Forgive Us.
Teaching on the Lord’s Prayer, Linda focuses on forgiveness and challenges the misconception that God was angry before Jesus came. She explains that throughout the Old Testament, God consistently revealed Himself as compassionate, gracious, and forgiving. Jesus’ death on the cross was not a new expression of forgiveness but the fulfillment of God’s long-standing plan to restore humanity.
Linda also teaches that forgiveness is not just about receiving personal salvation; it is about extending God’s forgiveness to others. While reconciliation is a worthy goal, it is not always possible because it requires both parties. Forgiveness, however, is a personal choice and a heart posture that reflects God’s character. She encourages believers to accept God’s forgiveness, release their own guilt, and ask God for help in forgiving those who have hurt them.
