It was announced yesterday from the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews that face coverings will be mandatory when leaving home for one of the 4 reasons from 11:59pm on Wednesday 22 July. This decision is due to the spike in new cases in Victoria over the last few days with yesterday recording 363 new cases and 3 deaths.
“As you remember to take your keys when you leave the house, you need to remember to take something to cover your face” -Andrews says
It was revealed that anyone who fails to wear a mask could be fined $200.
It has been announced that there will be some reasons not to wear a face covering. Example’s given by Daniel Andrews are “those who have a medical reason, kids under 12 years of age, those who have a professional reason or if it’s just not practical, like when running – however you will still be expected to carry your face covering at all times to wear when you can.”
In schools, teachers dont have to wear a face covering while teaching so students can see their face, however students attending school will be expected to wear one on the way to and from school.
